Author: Jerry Darnell.
This spiral bound book is by our next-door-neighbor blacksmith at Mill Creek Forge. Jerry has a lot of knowledge and has taught blacksmithing classes for over 22 years at John C. Campbell Folk School and at various conferences throughout the US, for which he developed these step-by-step directions for making various 18th century items. As he has aged, Jerry has worried that the knowledge he has will simply be lost, so he is beginning to compile books of his project directions. This is the fourth volume in the series. (Eventually there will hopefully be a fifth and final volume.)
These are presented exactly as Jerry has them, handwritten and with Jerry's own sketches. This is meant to be an informational reference book for historic sites, blacksmiths, and for others interested in how old ironwork was made. It is not a slick fancy book.
This fourth volume includes directions for making 6 different additional colonial lighting implements, 13 additional pieces of iron hearth equipment, 7 more different early American hardware items, and 5 additional other miscellaneous items. None of these have been included in Jerry's other three volumes. The projects in this book cover a range of skill levels, simple to advanced.
Jerry is one of the top blacksmiths in this country today, and this is a must-have for anyone interested in recreating 18th century forged ironwork, beginner or advanced. It is ideal as a reference for blacksmiths at historic sites.
We are not selling this at any profit, so that the information can be shared as inexpensively as possible.
