Product Description

Editor:  Joanna Roberts

This is a nice addition to the woefully short list of English translations of 18th century German receipts (recipes) and will be most helpful for those who interpret 18th century sites of German heritage.

The book is a partial translation of two German cookbooks:   Instructions of All Kinds of Cookery and Pastry For Young Women,1787, by A Friend of Cookery and The Economical Handbook For Housewives, 1795, by Friederike Luise Loffler.  Easy  to follow for those used to historical cookery and cookbooks.  There are appendices and glosseries in the back of the book which define many, though not all, of the words left in the German form.

Illustrated with drawings in black-and-white.

Copyright 2017, 154 pages. An Old Salem Museums and Gardens publication.

NEW, softcover edition.
