Product Description

Unlidded redware pipkin on legs, used for hearth cooking, patterned after those made in the very early 18th century in Yorktown, Virginia.

Glazed interior and exterior, partially glazed on the handle, right-handed pouring lip.

6" tall x 4" diameter at the top.  Capacity is  1 pint.

Pipkins should be used either near the fire or else with coals under them.  They are not meant to be used over direct flame; any lick of flame may crack them.

This is a new piece of pottery made in the old style, not an antique.
