Product Description

French 18th century redware chocolate pot with sponged manganese oxide, as shown in a painting by Jean Baptiste Simeon Chardin.   Chocolate pots were meant only for whisking and serving hot chocolate, not for heating it up.

8" tall, 1 1/2 quart capacity.

Please do not use this in a British-American or German-American 18th century setting, as it would not be appropriate!!

If you are looking for a chocolate pot to use in 18th century British background American, you need to be using either metal (try Goose Bay Workshops for a metal replica) or porcelain or other moldmade ceramics.  You should not be buying this French style chocolate pot to use in British America!

This is a new piece of pottery made in the old style, not an antique.
